The sole purpse of this 'Cover Girl' project was to be able to network with people already in the industry. This included building connections with stylists, photographers and models. The task we were given was to create a high fashion magazine cover which strongly reflected SS16 hair and make up trends, as well as representing the magazine.

The shoot was scheduled to start at 2pm. On the morning of the shoot my model that i was meant to be using on the day, messaged me saying that she could no longer attend. This was extremly annoying as i had already booked a photographer for the day. Even though Jo wasnt a proper model she still was avaliable to step in for the person who let me down so the shoot still went ahead.

The key trend for SS16 was 'into the blue' and is seen all over the catwalk, from splattered blue ink sprays, to tropical blues at Missoni. I wanted to add blue into my front cover as it was definatly one to catch the eye for this season and represnts the SS16 trend very well.

After i did the make up we were trying to figure out how we would cover the eye, below are a few ideas.

We first tried three fingers to cover the eye as i have seen many do it on the magazine front cover and took inspiration from it. Many of the earlier front covers represent this, as its the easiest and most accessible way to cover it. Obviously if this was going to be used for the real shoot i would of painted the finger nails so it ties in with the whole look. Maybe in yellow or even a different shade of blue.

The second idea i tried was closing one of the eyes to represent the wink featured in the magazines logo. After i had taken the picture and reflected on it was when i relaised it was the wrong eye that was closed. Also another problem that occured with this sort of style was that the model couldnt wink whilst keeping her eye open so was almost like a squint of both eyes.
