I chose I-D magazine to recreate because I liked the idea of just one of the eyes showing. The magazine cover itself is very simple as it just features a bold statement and the logo.
The trends I chose to represent for ss16 front cover are ‘60’s revival’, ‘wispy lashes’ and ‘fresh dewy skin’. As we are now approaching the start of spring I wanted to add in the dewy skin to give a fresh faced look. Many of the catwalks for SS16 feature inspiration from the 1960’s. Bringing back bright blue eye shadow and bold bottom lashes. With a strong fashion twist on the 60’s I created statement lashes in the middle of the top and bottom lashes.
The Photoshoot:
The project...
Over the half term we were given a project to organise a photoshoot reflecting the SS16 hair and make up trends. Then we had to choose one of our images to incorporate into our chosen magazine cover. The main project was too organise a model, photographer and stylist.
I was able to source a model from 'Purple Port' and she was happy to help free of charge as she wanted to build her portfolio. My friend is a photographer so he was more than happy to help me out. We wasnt ale to organise a test shoot befoer the real shoot so when it came about it was going to be trial and error. The day of the shoot came and i made sure i messaged everyone the night before so that we were all on the same level and everyone was informed.
The morning of the shoot...
I got a message from the model at about 10am that morning she messaged me saying she could no longer come to the photoshoot. At this point as you can imagine i was very stressed. I tried on 'purple port' again to see if u could source a model at such short notice....no luck! There was nothing i could do, i had everything organised and wasnt preppared to cancel it. I messaged a few friends, most of them were busy but then i remembered that Josephine from college use to model a few years ago. i messaged her and explained the situation and she was more than happy to help me out. My friend Harry turnt up at my house at 1pm ready to set up all his equipment so that he was preppared to shoot the images. At about 1.20pm Jo arrived, bare faced and ready for the shoot.
The make up...
In regards to the make up look that i wanted to create i wanted to try and impliment as many trends as i could without it looking too overpowering for the front cover. I chose to base the front cover around the 60's as from my research many catwalks incorporated this in all aspects, including hair, make up and clothing.
I decided that i wanted to make the eyes a feature on the magazine. Like the 60's eye make up was a big trend, big, bold and bright. As seen on the catwalks blue was a theme and from delving deeper into the research of the different make up trends i saw one that stood out. Mary Krakanou's SS16 show.. The eye make up was creative and different. The make uo artist for this show applied mascara over the lshes making them thick and clumpy, then added blue acrylic paint over the top just in the centre. So i decided to take my own twist on this by adding lashes in the centre of the eye.
