Today i recreated my chosen catwalk look; Burberry AW14. I think that my assessment went really well, i enjoyed being able to recreate the look to the best of my ability. On the day of my assessment i brought in an A3 moodbaord which had pictures of my chosen look, timings, products and also a face chart for design inspiration.

I set up my work station tidily so i was able to reach my products without leaving a mess. My brushes were all clean and laid out on the tissue ready to use. At 9am i started prepping the skin on my model.

Step by step:
1. I cleansed toned and moistursed the skin.
2. Then i used a primer in the centre of the face as it appeared to be quite dry.
3. i then used my Dermacolour concealer palette to hide any dark circles, red ness of blemishes.
4. I started under the eye with a peach toned d32 to remove any blue ness then packed onto a yellow toned concealer to remove the orangeness.
5. I then mixed together the shades C3+C4 face and bodt foundations by MAC. I used these foundations to give a light dewy effect on the skin.
6. Once i buffed this into the face and the neck i the used a more full coverage foundation also by MAC in the centre of the face.
7. I then used a transparent powder around the edge of the face to make th centre more dewy.
8. Using a beauty blender and strobe cream i patted this onto the bridge of the nose, ontop of the cheekbones, cupids bow and around the eyebrow and temple.
9. I then focused on contouring the face to give a natural shadow. Started from the cnetre of the ears down towards the centre of the cheebone.
10. Using a highlighter brush and MAC vanilla pigment i dusted it ontop of the cheekbonesm along the nose, around the temples and brow bone, chin and forehead.
11. I then brushed through the brows with a spoolie and filled them in slightly just to give some dimension and shape.
12. Then ran the clear brow gel through them in an upwards motion to copy the chosen look.
13. Using a flat eyeshadow brush i lightly brushed the plum eyeshadow onto the lid. Then using a blending brush i blended outwards towards the brow bone.
14. Then using a flat shader brush i did the same underneath eye on the bottom lash line.
15. Using a white kohl pencil i asked the model to tilt her head back and look upwards. I then lined the bottom waterline.
16. Using a MAC mascara fan brush i loaded it up with mascara from the wand and then coated the lashes to open up the eye.
17. For the lips i then lined them with MAC spice lipliner and then filled them with MAC twig.
18. Finishing the look i added a paeach blusher just for a bit of warmth and colour.
What i found most difficult about receating this look was getting the skin as perfect as on the catwalk without caking the make up on. I found that the more i tried to make the skin look flawless the more make up i was using. If i wasnt happy with the concealing i would then go over with a higher coverage foundation without blending properly. Also, another aspect i found difficult was the blending of the eyeshadow. It was a problem i faced because i changed the products i was gonna use on the day of the assessment. Without prior practice of the product before. The problem that occured was blocky looking eyeshadow. I made a silly mistake when i thought using an almost gone eyeshadow primer on the lid. I brushed the primer on and then when i applied the eyeshadow the shadow stuck straight away. Where it was old and had nearly dried up it was difficult to blend and move around, so on the pictures the left eye has a darker shade of shadow. I could of wiped off the shadow and started again without the primer this time, but i was quickly running out of time so kept it. The other eye went much better as i stuck to the original plan and didnt use the primer. This eyeshadow blended perfectly and i could see a difference straight away between the two. So for future reference i wont change my plan drastically on the day and not wing it.
