Here we see the start of Dolce and Gabbana Spring/Summer 2015 campaign. Models Biana Balti, Vittoria Ceretti, Irina Sharipova and Blanca Padilla star in this Spanish inspired theme with infamous bullfighter Jose Maria Manzanares. Domenico Dolce photographed the campaign himself whilst Stefano Gabbana used his artistic direction. The vision was created by researching into Sicilian traditions and color schemes to utilize into the Spanish inspiration through still shots and video. From the catwalk we see Spanish Sicilian influences which carry through to the Ad campaign for SS15. The Italian fashion houses reflected the Spanish influence in their designs throughout the catwalk show. To add to this Sicilian family theme there are also four ‘nonnas’ (grandmothers) who feature in the ad. The vibrant colors are seen throughout all of the collections top pieces; including reds and blacks. Exciting patters and intriquate Spanish embellishment is also featured providing an essence to the Mediterranean culture.

The clothes feature a seductive silhouette, through the powerful dance element that represents the Spanish influence perfectly. Love, passion and desire are just a few words to describe the sensual feel to the whole campaign. It is a striking campaign because it really does pull all aspects of the Sicilian culture into it. The location was on the street of a small Spanish town, where it is witnessed that many generations; young and old come too meet through their love of dance and music. A strong symbol also reflected through is the importance of family in the Sicilian culture; the inclusion of older grandmothers which provides authenticity to the campaign.

The make up is by Pat McGrath. She has captured the theme perfectly. The deep red lips captures the colurs of the sicilian theme. As the clothing is primarily black and red, the dark lips with the smokey eye captures the essence. Strong brows are also seen in this shot as in my opinion spanish women are dark haired and have strong striking dark brows. The hair is created by Oribe Canales. He has captured the very common 'flaminco' dancer hairstyle. Tightly scraped back into a low bun, tied at the bottom of the nape. Other hairstyles are seen with high ponytails, curled and tied in alternative sections. Red flowers are seen in the hair, to captivate the colour scheme and overall theme.

The four grandmothers who wear black clothing with large floral headdresses and embellished clutch bags are there to present the link to the cultural influence rather than to model the pieces. It is the difference between the generation, the grandmothers stay true to their age rather than trying to compete with the younger generation. The mature ladies are dressed appropriately and are captured looking devotedly at their granddaughters. The unique placement of the older women is to demand attention to the innovative campaign and truly capture the Mediterranean influence. The warmth and character from the Sicilian women showcases Dolce & Gabbana’s accessories perfectly. It is so unique, many will be drawn to the beauty intended by the designers. No other fashion house is capturing the older generation in relation to culture in the same light. The campaign is a celebration of tradition and reality rather than mature modelling.
