In this lesson we were given the task of recreating a catwalk look.
Firstly holly showed us a demonstration on half the face and then we were able to recreate the look ourselves.
Step by Step:
1. Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise the face. Prep the face using an approrpiate primer.
2. Spritz the face with 'MAC fix+'.
3. Using the dermacolour palette in shade D32 brush underneath the eye to remove the blue undertone of the dark circles. Then using light concealer palette go over the D32 with the yellow toned concealer.
4. I chose face and body in C3 and C4 as this was a perfect match to bridgettes skin colour. I mixed strobe cream in with the foundation to give a dewy finish. Using a buffing brush i buffed it into the skin and down the neck for an even finish.
5. Using a full coverage foundation and a small buffing brush i buffed extra coverage into problem areas. These included around the nose and some blemishes on the cheeks.
6. Create a light contour using a grey undertoned sculpting powder just to hollow out the cheekbones and define the face.
7. Brush the eyebrows through with a spoolie and correct the eyebrow shape if neccessary. In my case i had to correct the brow tail and the arch, using 'espresso' by MAC and an angled brow brush. To set the brow i used clear brow gel, also by MAC. By brushing the brow up it helps to give a natural look.
8. Using a black gel eyeliner and angled liner brush starting from the inside corner about half way up the eyelid i created the arch following the eye shape. Then tailed off upwards at an angle so when the eye is open it slightly flicks upwards.
9. Along the top of the lash line move the gel liner along the top of the lash line and round it at the corners of the eyes to create a downwards arch. Follow the same along the bottom lash line.
10. Under the bottom of the lash line draw a straight line for added colour.
11. Using a pink lipstick dab underneath the black line for a pop of colour.
12. Finish with mascara on both bottom and top lashes.
Procuts Used:
- Kryolan Dermacolour concealer palette
- Face and Body foundation C3 + C4
- Cleanser, toner, moisturiser
- MAC full coverage foundation in NC25
- Clean spoolie
- Clear Brow Gel
- MAC light concealer palette
In evaluation, for me personally i found this technical liner a bit of a challenge. The fresh dewy base was a success, but the liner itself wasnt. As my first attempt of applying gel eyeliner in a creative way i found it very difficult. I cant apply liner across the lashline anyway without having a few bumps and wonky flick, but that all comes with practice and i need to learn from it in the next coming month. The only thing i was most proud of is the skin. I dont think i have perfected the method yet but i have tried and it looks much more sccessful than when i first started the course. The problems i faced with the eyeliner was because it dries so quickly, and with me practicing at such a slow pace it proved difficult to move the liner when it dried. This causing me to panic moving faster then thats where the jolts and unsmooth curved lines happened. In my own time i will practice using gel eyeliner on my hand just ot get the feel of it and gauge its drying time. This way i can speed up using the product. Overall, this look i failed and i know aspects i can improve on.
