James Pecis - Hair Stylist

'Your hair should always be in a style of a girl that you want to be—or the girl that you want to date' - James Pecis

James Pecis born in 1980, originally born in Northern California. He began his styling career in his late teenage years at 'BladeRunners' hair studio in San Fransisco. By moving to New York and staying for 6 years he had the invaluable opportunity to assist Jimmy Paul. When he started working he realised he found his own unique style, leading him to later move to London. He found that living so centrally in the UK it gave him opportunitys to move round Europe much quicker and easier. London is the forefront for creativity as it holds a different sort of energy. He later joined 'Bumble and Bumble' in early 2004. At the end of 2007 he went solo and took his own path into the styling industry. He began working on shows with Anne Valerie Hash and in 2011 he won session stylist of the year. After finding his own unique style was a learning curve for Pecis, he found that when working first hand in th industry alot of hair stylists didnt want too braid hair, which now he is infamous for his brading techniques having found a sort of niche to work towards.

His trademark is Modern tussled plaits and braids.

Featuring above is the 'Grunge Braids' from Simone Rochas AW14 Catwalk show. An unstructred, undone braid featuring messy pulled out fringes.

Tressage Savage - Vogue Paris 2012. James Pecis first session stylist to work on the entire magazine.

From an Interview with 'Vogue' he explaned that from his experience the hair industry is tough to break into. Thats why he found his niche of braiding, sets him apart from other people and more importantly makes him more employable against peolpe who cant. He is inspired by messing about and playing with hair, to create unique looks. James Pecis has worked on many fashion shows for New York, Milan and Paris.
